Quebec could reopen schools and daycares before May 4th
The Premier of Quebec, François Legault, “does not exclude” the possibility of reopening schools and daycare centers before May 4th.
In his daily press briefing, he mentioned that this option is still being studied in order to facilitate the relaunch of economic activities and the return to work of many Quebecers.
Mr. Legault added that the decision will be made based on recommendations from Public Health.
For the director of public health, Dr. Horacio Arruda, the reopening of schools would allow children, less vulnerable to the virus, to participate in the natural immunization of the population. He also talks about rebalancing society, because confinement can also have a negative impact on children and their families.
On Thursday, the Quebec Premier also indicated that the restart of the school year could take place in several stages depending on the region.
