Public health authority warns about measles exposure at park in Gatineau

2 May 2025 à 10:52 am

Regional health authority CISSSO is warning the public that two people diagnosed with measles from Ottawa were present at the Éco des champs park located at 482 chemin Eardley, Gatineau, between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Sunday, April 20. The statement notes that the risk of outdoor exposure in this setting is low, but added that other exposure sites had been identified by Ottawa Public Health.

“Since the measles outbreak began in Quebec and Ontario, no cases of measles have been confirmed in the Outaouais region,” the statement reads. “We remind the public that although the outbreak is over in Quebec, cases of measles can occur, and it is important to ensure protection.”

CISSSO recommends that anyone who was present at the exposure site, or the other exposure sites in Ottawa to check their vaccination status and to monitor for symptoms until May 11.
