Although the number of COVID-19 cases in Quebec has now reached 1, 339, which practically doubles the record for Ontario, Premier François Legault cautioned that the data collection strategies varies from province to province.

During his daily press briefing, François Legault also recalled that “the game is far from won” and that it is essential that everyone keep the appropriate prevention habits.

Note that two additional coronavirus-related deaths have occurred in the past 24 hours, bringing the total death toll to six.

Call to homeowners to accommodate rent payments until April 6th
Aware that thousands of tenants are deprived of income because of the impacts of COVID-19, the Premier of Quebec asked the owners of rental housing to show patience towards their troubled tenants for the payment of their rent, at least until the federal aid reaches them. “Our priority is to make sure that everyone is able to eat and find accommodation,” said Legault.

Warning to “snowbirds”: you must isolate yourself
The Quebec Premiere has issued a warning to all snowbirds arriving from Florida or elsewhere outside of Canada: “You have to isolate yourself for 14 days. It is very serious. You are at risk of spreading the virus. It is very important not to leave the house, “said Legault.

Note that the Government of Canada has made 14-day confinement mandatory for people arriving from abroad through the Quarantine Act.

Importance of cleaning workers
Finally, the Premier Legault addressed a special thank you to all the staff who clean and disinfect health facilities and also all other places. “Their task is more important than ever and these workers are also part of this battle against the virus,” said François Legault.
