Before the MRC meeting on Wednesday, Warden Jane Toller met with a group of people representing First Nations, wanting to see a change at the office of the Société de l’assurance automobile du Québec (SAAQ) whose service centre is located in the offices of the MRC Pontiac.

They criticized that the clientele had to walk on the Indian head of the MRC Pontiac, the old logo. Jane Toller found a solution to prevent people from walking on this representation, which some felt was a lack of respect for first nations.

Local Indigenous spokespersons, Louise-Marie Beaudry explains.

Visitors to the SAAQ at Campbell’s Bay will now be able to bypass the emblem on the ground, which is now surrounded by a strip of red cloth.
