Proposal for the Climate innovation Program to reduce GHG emissions in the MRC Pontiac
A presentation on strategies for reducing green house gas (GHG) emissions per municipality was given last night during the MRC Pontiac meeting.
Following a general assessment carried out per municipality, the Environment coordinator, Kari Richardson, gave an overview of the CO2 emissions throughout the Pontiac, emphasizing that an action plan and awareness campaigns will be given during the next MRC Pontiac meeting.
In response, the Mayors of the MRC and Warden Jane Toller applauded Richardson for the initiative, adding that the timing is perfect.
According to Richardson’s report aided by data collected in 2017, the main sources of emissions in the MRC Pontiac are as follows:
Corporate Activities:
– municipal buildings
– Traffic and other lights
– motorized equipment
Community activities:
– Transportation
– Water treatment facilities,
– Landfill
– Transportation of waste
More details on the GHG emissions per municipalities will be made available soon.
