Power Outages in the Pontiac over the weekend
The return to normal is gradually underway in the Pontiac after the major power outages over the weekend.
According an update issued by Hydro-Québec at 2:46pm, a remaining 1,520 residents were still without electricity; 734 of which from Otter Lake and 382 from Thorne. Some residents would have been without electricity for more than 36 hours.
The advisor in public relations at Hydro Québec, Sarah-Anne Landry, gave more details of the current situation.
The municipality of Otter Lake, which was the most affected over the weekend, has organized a reception area for residents at the Otter Lake recreation center, where they can warm up with coffee and soup, and other snacks. Emergency services are also busy visiting the elderly to provide them with warm food.
Hydro-Québec mentioned that repair work is still underway in the various municipalities and that more than 25 teams are trying to restore the power.
