Pontiac Terry Fox run organizers past and present recognized at MRC meeting

The new and former organizers of the Pontiac Terry Fox run were recognized at MRC Pontiac’s monthly public meeting on Wednesday night (September 18).

John Petty and Rick Valin, have been organizing the local run for more than 40 years, before stepping back in 2022.

Warden Jane Toller presented the pair with Pontiac Paddles of Accomplishment, the MRC’s highest honour, and thanked them for their service.

Also recognized were Jennifer Mielke and Carolann Barton, who have taken up the task of organizing the run. Mielke announced that as of that evening this year’s run had brought in $7,735 and encouraged members of the public to get in touch if they wanted to volunteer for next year’s event.
