The Table de concertation des aînés et des retraités de l’Outaouais (TCARO), an organization representing seniors and retirees throughout the Outaouais region, held a ceremony at the Bryson Bistro du bûcheron in Fort-Coulonge Tuesday (October 17) recognizing six local elders for their contributions to the community.

TCARO deputy director general Patricia Gougeon explained that the event was part of a larger effort that they had made to document the experiences of seniors throughout the region.

The six Pontiac seniors were:  Charlotte Boucher, Mona Durocher Davis, Rénald Ferland, Richard Gratton, Adeline Mantha and Lise A. Romain. They also recognized Emile Vallée, who currently resides in Gatineau but has a long history of working in the Pontiac.

Gougeon said that it’s important to highlight the wealth of knowledge and experience that these pillars of the community have to offer.

Durocher Davis, who previously served on CHIP 101.9’s board of directors as well as many other organizations, said that while she’s happy to be feted, there are many other people in the community deserving of recognition.
