Police report: arrests for weapons, impaired driving, drug trafficking
Police from the MRC Pontiac detachment of the Sûreté du Québec have released a report on some of their activities over the past week.
Two arrested for weapons, probation violations
At around 2 p.m. last Thursday (September 29), police intercepted a vehicle travelling on Hwy. 148 in Mansfield-et-Pontefract. The driver didn’t have a valid license and officers noticed ammunition in the vehicle. After a search of the vehicle, they found more ammunition and two bladed weapons, which both the driver and the passenger were prohibited from possessing. They were both also under probation. A 25-year-old from Mansfield was released with a promise to appear, and a 36-year-old from Mansfield was detained and appeared in court.
Impaired driving on the PPJ in Shawville
On Tuesday (October 4), police received a call regarding a car being driven on the PPJ trail in Shawville. Officers located the driver, a 59-year-old woman from Smiths Falls, Ontario, and arrested her for driving while impaired by alcohol. She required medical attention and was taken to hospital, where a blood sample was taken. She was released on a summons.
Fort-Coulonge man busted on mobility scooter for cocaine trafficking
Around 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday (October 4), police stopped a mobility scooter being driven along rue Fortin in Mansfield for a traffic violation. Officers discovered the driver, a 57-year-old from Fort-Coulonge, had a national driving ban and was prohibited from driving any motor vehicle on public roads or public places. During the arrest, police found more than 170 grams of cocaine and $300 cash, and the man was arrested for driving while prohibited and possession for the purpose of trafficking. He was released with a promise to appear.
