Police on patrol for start of deer hunting season
With the start of rifle hunting season for deer in the Outaouais this past weekend, the local branch of the Sûreté du Québec was on patrol along with officers from the Ministry of Environment.
On Sunday (November 10), officers from both organizations were stationed on one of the main arteries into the forest, chemin du Bois-Franc in Mansfield from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. In the course of their operation, they made one arrest for possession of a firearm without a license, one arrest related to tobacco, issued three citations for violations of the Wildlife Conservation Act, and gave two tickets for highway safety infractions.
In a press release, police warned that they would be conducting other joint operations throughout the season.
