The Association des radios communautaires du Québec (ARCQ), was present at the parliamentary Commission on the future of the media, which was held at the National Assembly this week. In an interview with CHIP 101.9, the ARCQ’s Director General, Martin Bougie, explained how the organization’s presence was relevant in Quebec City as part of the commission.

The exchange between the ARCQ and representatives of the Government of Quebec lasted a total of 45 minutes, during which questions were asked regarding the community radio station business model as a media and on its future. One question in particular was asked by the CAQ MNA for Saint-Jean, Louis Lemieux, about the possibility of community media working together. According to Martin Bougie, the ARCQ does not rule out the possibility of collaboration, but specifies that there is more to consider before creating such alliances.

It should be noted that representing the ARCQ during the Parliamentary Commission was the Director General Martin Bougie, the President Tanya Beaumont, Vice-President François Carrier and Administrator Éric Tétreault. The ARCQ’s submission to the parliamentary commission on the future of the media is available here, as well as the full interview with Martin Bougie.
