Overview of Pontiac provincial election candidate’s activities
As election day on October 3 gets closer, the candidates for the riding of Pontiac have been busy getting out in the many different communities across the region. The CAQ candidate Corinne Canuel-Jolicoeur has been active on the ground and on social media, notably visiting the hamlet of Rapides-des-Joachims and Mansfield-et-Pontefract. She wrote about her meeting with l’École secondaire Sieur-de-Coulonge Principle Julie Martin.
“I have been involved in improving the understanding of learning differences (some call them “learning difficulties”) and the services offered to children in the educational environment for almost 20 years. This is a topic that is close to my heart! It was an honor to meet Ms. Julie Martin, Principal at Sieur-de-Coulonge High School. She is a model in terms of understanding learning differences, supporting and coaching students, proactively implementing individualized learning plans even before an official diagnosis is made, and including everyone. As you can see, this school is filled with positive statements which support a positive learning environment.”
Incumbent Liberal MNA André Fortin, in addition to participating in numerous community events, posted a video endorsement from Chichester Mayor Donald Gagnon, who spoke highly of Fortin’s work over the past eight years.
“I support André because André’s done a lot for our community,” Gagnon said in the video. “We’ve got lots of road infrastructure and he’s been always a helping hand when you needed him.”
Québec solidaire candidate Mike Owen Sebagenzi was in Hull yesterday for an announcement on transportation with the party’s co-leader Manon Massé.
“Really happy to have recieved the visit of Manon Massé in Outaouais to announce the Transport Revolution for Gatineau,” he wrote on social media. “For the people of Aylmer, a tramway will be available and will go all the way to Ottawa. It will also be connected to another tramway line that will reach the east of Gatineau. With bus lines that will connect the rural Pontiac with the urban center. At Québec solidaire, we want to give the option to Quebecers to leave the car at home if they want to!”
Quebec Conservative candidate Terrence Watters is holding a barbeque meeting at the Luskville Recreation Park (3206 Hwy. 148) this Saturday, September 24 from noon to 4 p.m.
Citizens will have noticed that the candidate for the newly created Canadian Party of Quebec, Will Twolan, and his team have been busy putting up campaign signs throughout the Pontiac.
Note that this week, CHIP 101.9 will be having candidates live on-air during our French-language morning show Bonjour Pontiac between 8 and 9 a.m. Monday the Green Party candidate Pierre Cyr was in-studio, and this morning Conservative candidate Terrence Watters was our guest. Tomorrow morning, Liberal André Fortin will visit the station and on Thursday we will wrap up with CAQ candidate Corinne Canuel-Jolicoeur. Residents can call in with their questions at 819-683-3155.
