Outaouais remains in the Orange for another week
During a joint press conference held by the Centre Intégré de Santé et de Service Sociaux de l’Outaouais (CISSSO) and the Ontario Public Health (OPH) on Monday, Dr. Brigitte Pinard the interim Director of Outaouais Public Health, stated that the Outaouais region would remain in the Orange or moderate alert for another week.
This week, the neighbouring regions of the Laurentides and Lanaudières have been moved into the newly established Dark Orange panel or a mix between moderate alert (orange) and maximum alert (red) due to different realities being lived within its borders.
Though the news of the Outaouais region staying in the Orange for another week was welcomed, the various realities facing COVID-19 across the Outaouais in sectors such as the Pontiac and La Vallée de Gatineau differs. According to Brigitte Pinard, no decision has been made as of yet for devision of the Outaouais region and for the time being the message remains the same, asking people to uphold the health measures put in place.
As for the Mayor of Gatineau, Maxime Pedneaud-Jobin, the city would look into the possibility of closing the border between Ottawa and Gatineau once more, upon the recommendation of Public Health.
More details will be available soon.
