Outaouais paramedics “really not happy” with the negotiations

3 August 2026 à 2:58 pm

Paramedics in the Outaouais region are expressing their discontent as their collective agreement expired 16 months ago. After seven months on strike, the pension plan remains the main obstacle to an agreement with the Quebec government.

Negotiations between the Quebec government and paramedics in the Outaouais region are at a standstill. Although several points of the collective agreement have been settled, discussions are still stalled over the terms of the pension plan.

According to the Quebec Federation of Prehospital Workers, paramedics are increasingly frustrated by the slow pace of negotiations. Their collective agreement expired 16 months ago, and they have been on strike for seven months.

The union is calling on the government to quickly reach an agreement to end the dispute and improve working conditions for paramedics.
