Outaouais hospitalizations still on the rise
The number of hospitalizations due to COVID-19 in the Outaouais is on the rise. After 128 hospitalizations were recorded on Friday, the number rose to 145 Monday, with five of those cases in intensive care.
Unlike the situation last fall, hospitalizations seem to be the more useful metric as opposed to active cases. As mentioned by spokespeople for the CISSSO, the number of active cases of COVID-19 is no longer such a significant figure given the change in screening. For the moment, people who have received positive results from rapid tests are not counted in the recent data. This explains a rapid decrease in the number of cases listed on the Pontiac territory, dropping from nearly 300 to 84 in a few days, despite the outbreak at the CHSLD Manoir Sacré-Cœur.
