Other municipalities establish measures to prevent the spread of the virus
The municipalities in the MRC Pontiac continue to announce the local implementation of various measures to limit the spread of the novel coronavirus in their communities.
Otter Lake: CHIP 101.9 notably spoke to the mayor of Otter Lake, Kim Cartier-Villeneuve.
Cartier-Villeneuve also ensured that the municipal work necessary will still be done, such as road reparations or snow removal.
L’Isle-aux-Allumettes / Chichester: The mayor of the municipality of L’Isle-aux-Allumettes, Winston Sunstrum, informed his residents of the current availability of municipal services:
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all municipal buildings in L’Isle-aux-Allumettes and therefore Chichester will be closed until further notice – including the municipal office, the St. Joseph community centre, the Pontiac Ouest branch, the Harrington Community Center, the municipal library and the Haut Pontiac Sports Complex.
Waltham: The municipal office in Waltham will be closed for an unidentified period. Residents wishing to pay their taxes can do so by sending a check, or by paying online through a banking service. The general manager, Fernand Roy, will remain available by phone at 819-683-3027 to respond to any questions.
Monitor communications from your municipality
To date, the Pontiac municipalities have implemented various measures. Most of them have chosen to close their municipal offices, but to keep their services accessible to the public by telephone or by email. Citizens are invited to follow their municipality’s communications rigorously in order to stay informed of the most recent developments in their community.
Tax payments: many municipalities are offering their citizens to pay their taxes with an online payment service. You can contact your municipality to find out the different payment methods available to you.
