Organizers of the Fort-Coulonge/Mansfield Country Festival delighted with Quebec’s re-opening plan

The Quebec government presented their deconfinement plan for the coming weeks at a news conference yesterday (February 8) afternoon. These announcements were welcome news to the organizers of the Fort-Coulonge-Mansfield Country Festival, Phil Denault and Carole Faubert, who had to cancel the popular annual event for the past two years.

“With today’s announcements, we can hope for our Festival in 2022. Public participation will be even more necessary for the survival of our festival and all festivals. Hoping to welcome you to our festival from June 2 to 5, 2022,” they wrote in a social media post (tr.).

Here is the re-opening calendar as laid out by the Quebec government. Keep in mind, masks and proof of vaccination are still required where they have been mandated previously:

Saturday February 12

– limits on home gatherings will be lifted, but public health recommends a maximum of 10 people or three family bubbles

– restaurants will be allowed to seat 10 people together (or three family bubbles)

Monday February 14

– resumption of indoor sports matches for youth and adults, as well as spectators in the stands
– gyms and spas can re-open

Monday February 21

– retail businesses allowed to operate at 100% capacity
– performance halls and places of worship will still be limited to 50% capacity, but will have their caps raised to 500 people

Monday February 28

– bars and casinos can re-open at 50% capacity but will have to issue last call at midnight and close at 1 a.m.
– teleworking where possible is no longer mandatory, but recommended
– places of worship and showrooms allowed at full capacity
– sports tournaments can take place without participant limits
– large facilities like the Bell Centre will be able to open at 50% capacity

Monday March 14

– dancing and karaoke allowed at bars and venues
– restaurants and large facilities like the Bell Centre will be able to open to full capacity
