Open Farm Day: Meet Local Producers on September 7
Next Sunday, September 7, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., the public is invited to meet farmers and producers during Open Farm Day – Mangeons local. Organized for the 21st year by the Union des producteurs agricoles (UPA), this flagship event offers an inside look at life on 55 farms across Quebec—including three in the Outaouais region.
Among them is Ferme bovine Victor Drury (La Pêche), a beef cattle farm recognized for its strong agri-environmental practices.
“Our region is right next to major urban centers, and that is part of its richness. Within minutes, you can leave the city to meet passionate producers, hear their stories, and taste their products. Open Farm Day is a wonderful opportunity to see how simple and important it is to choose local food,” said Stéphane Alary, President of the UPA Outaouais–Laurentides Federation.
Two other Outaouais farms are also participating:
-
Ferme Saveur des Monts (Val-des-Monts): A diversified farm with a local products shop.
-
Érablière et distillerie Bo-Sirop (Grand-Remous): A traditional maple farm that also produces handcrafted spirits—an ideal way to discover all aspects of maple production.
