ONC Speed: nearly 14,000 tickets issued, including 10,000 for speeding
The National Concerted Operation (NCO) on speed and road construction, conducted from June 8th to 14th, 2026, resulted in significant findings on Quebec roads. In total, nearly 14,000 tickets were issued, including more than 10,000 for speeding. Several interventions took place in school zones and road construction areas, where vigilance is crucial.
Police services, supported by the SAAQ (Quebec Automobile Insurance Corporation) and the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, reiterate that speed remains a leading cause of fatal collisions and collisions resulting in serious injuries. In this regard, 67 tickets for excessive speeding were also issued.
Alongside these on-the-ground interventions, an awareness campaign circulated on social media under the theme “We are all responsible for our driving,” encouraging drivers to slow down and adopt safe driving practices, particularly around vulnerable road users.
Increased Surveillance for the Summer
With the arrival of summer holidays and the increase in travel, authorities have announced that police surveillance will remain heightened. They emphasize that improving road safety depends as much on police intervention as on the individual responsibility of each road user.
