No close votes and a proposal on decentralization of health care
For the first time in nearly six months, at the regular meeting which took place yesterday (April 21), the council of mayors of the MRC Pontiac was not divided 9 against 9 on a proposal. Warden Jane Toller cwas satisfied with this kind of meeting which she qualifies as a business meeting.
This time, there was no proposal concerning the forestry industry, the subject will instead be discussed during a meeting in a few weeks. The last item on the agenda, a proposal from the MRC Maria-Chapdelaine in Lac-St-Jean, which proposes to decentralize health care. According to Jane Toller, for a small community like the Pontiac, a certain decentralization would allow more leeway regarding certain decisions affecting recruitment and services.
The proposal received the support of all the elected representatives present. Jane Toller meant again her satisfaction with what she described as better harmony and teamwork, following the meeting.
