New Warden of the County of Renfrew
New Warden of the County of Renfrew
A new Warden of the County of Renfrew was elected yesterday during the Inaugural Session of the Renfrew County Council. Reeve Debbie Robinson, the council representative of the Township of the Laurentian Valley, formally took the Oath of Office at yesterday’s session assuming the position of Warden for a one-year term. She was nominated against Councillor Tom Peckett, the representative of the Township of McNab/Braeside, a notable second year nomination for Peckett. Robinson will now replace former-Warden Jeniffer Murphy who held the position for three terms.
Upon assuming Office, Warden Debbie Robinson presented a brief outline of some of her goals and objectives for 2020. During which, she highlighted the expansion of Highway 417, completing the Algonquin Trail, increasing Active Transportation projects, and finding funding to make efficient use of county resources; both human and financial.
Reeve Debbie Robinson has served in municipal government for the past 13 years, a prior journalist in the County involved as a community volunteer. She also sat on boards of governance for many associations in the county of Renfrew.
