Nature Conservancy of Canada acquires land in Bristol

The Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC) will acquire a 31-hectare in the Grand marais sector of the municipality of Bristol, described as an important ecological corridor and home to the largest population of blanding’s turtles in Quebec, a species designated as endangered.

The Ouest Quebec Program Director for the NCC, Caroline Gagné:

“Keeping such corridors is essential to the survival of large home ranges, that is, those that need large wilderness areas to feed and reproduce,” said the NCC. ”This is, in particular, the case of the white-tailed deer in the Ottawa Valley. ”
