National Blood Donation Week: The need for blood remains great, summer and winter alike!
Every day, 1,000 blood donations are required to meet the needs of hospitals across Quebec. To mark National Blood Donor Week, Héma-Québec is inviting the public to donate this summer. Whether from regular donors or even newcomers, blood donations remain essential during the summer months.
Although summer often means vacations, the need for blood remains the same. A single donation can save up to four lives, and the whole process usually takes no more than an hour.
To facilitate blood donation, Héma-Québec has implemented several measures over the past year, including:
- Greater openness to people living with diabetes;
- The adoption of gender-neutral surveys enables more people from diverse sexual backgrounds to contribute to the blood drive.
Summer and winter alike, the need for blood is constant. Donating is important 365 days a year. To consult the blood drive schedule and book an appointment, here.
