Motorists using the chemin du Bois Franc (commonly referred to as the Jim’s Lake Road) near Mansfield may have noticed some resurfacing work being done in recent days, as crews prepare for hunting season.

MRC Pontiac Territory Director Jason Durand said that the work is being done between kilometer 47 and 67 on the road, which is one of the main arteries into the forest for hunting and logging. He said that they aimed to get the work finished before rifle hunting season for moose opens up on October 7.

Durand explained that they have $100,000 in their budget to work on prioritized areas this year. Typically they can rely on grant funding to boost their budget, but their application this year was turned down. He urged those travelling on the road to exercise caution in the areas being worked on.
