MRC gauging interest in organic waste management

MRC Pontiac will soon be seeking proposals of interest for the collection and disposal of organic waste in the region. The MRC council of mayors approved a resolution at their public meeting last week approving a call for interest to be published on the provincial contracting website, SEAO. The third orientation of the MRC’s waste management plan is to “encourage and facilitate the recycling of organic materials” as a way of reducing the tonnage sent to landfill.

MRC environmental coordinator Nina Digioaccino explained that they wanted to see what kind of services would be available (preferably locally) and at what price range.

She estimated that now that the resolution has been approved, the call for interest should be issued mid-June at the latest.
