MRC economic development director fired after only weeks on the job

22 April 2024 à 11:36 am

At the most recent MRC Pontiac council of mayors meeting on April 17, the final resolution of the evening was to terminate an employee with cause, which was newly hired economic development director, Pierre Cadieux, CHIP 101.9 has learned. Cadieux’s hiring was approved at a special meeting of MRC council on March 13 of this year and had only been on the job for weeks before his departure.

MRC Director General Kim Lesage confirmed that Cadieux was no longer employed by the MRC, but declined to comment further. CHIP 101.9 has not verified the reason for Cadieux’s firing and the MRC declined to comment, however, he was still in a probationary period of his contract, giving the MRC more latitude when it comes to terminating his employment.

This position in particular has been a difficult one for the MRC to keep occupied, and while the circumstances of his exit are atypical, Cadieux is the sixth director to leave the department since 2016:

Guillaume Boudreau resigned after 13 months on the job, from November 2022 to December 2023. Cyndy Phillips held the role from February 2020 to May 2022.  She took over from Danielle Newman, who was hired in December 2018 and departed in January 2020. Émilie Chazelas, who held the position before Newman, resigned from the post in May 2018. She took over from Marc Fortin, who left the post in November 2016.
