Hydro-Québec is expected to lose close to $ 100 million this year due to unpaid bills. This amount includes unpaid bills and rebates granted to low-income households.

More than 250,000 hydro users were unable to pay their electricity bills according to the Journal de Montréal.

Last year, nearly 50,000 customers were disconnected due to delinquencies in their payments.
In spite of this, Hydro-Québec is asking the Régie de l’Energie for permission to raise its rates by 1.1% next April.
