More Than 1,600 Heavy Trucks Stopped by Police Across Quebec

More Than 1,600 Heavy Trucks Stopped by Police Across Quebec

13 November 2025 à 8:21 am

As part of the 2025–2026 Heavy Vehicle Monitoring Plan, police in Quebec have intercepted over 1,600 heavy trucks so far, issuing roughly 2,000 tickets since the start of the operation, which will continue through 2026.

Conducted in collaboration with Contrôle routier Québec, the initiative aims to strengthen enforcement, prevent risky behavior, and remind drivers of the importance of following the laws and regulations governing heavy vehicles.

Among the main infractions targeted are failure to obey traffic signs, tailgating, distracted driving, not wearing a seatbelt, failing to yield, and speeding.

Special attention will also be given to rules applying to vehicle owners, operators, and drivers — including monitoring driving hours, completing safety inspections, holding valid licenses and insurance, and ensuring vehicle equipment and speed limiters meet legal standards.

The Association des directeurs de police du Québec, in partnership with the Sûreté du Québec, will release monthly reports on the results of this enforcement plan, which will also be published on chipfm.com.
