Hydro-Québec has announced a new project to modernize its infrastructure on the territory of the MRC Pontiac, this time at Wyman substation, located at 11, chemin Sixth Line Est in Bristol. The work will begin at the end of May and will continue until December 2021. The Relations with the environment advisor at Hydro-Quebec, Alain Paquette, explains that new digital technologies will be integrated into this building and should allow, in particular, to carry out certain operations remotely.

Wyman’s post will be one of the first five posts in Quebec to make this digital shift. For the past few months, as we said, we have really wanted to improve the efficiency of our network in the Pontiac
– Alain Paquette

The work could cause a temporary increase in traffic in the area due to the presence of Hydro-Québec employees and suppliers. Residents may also notice more vehicles parked alongside the road. Hydro-Québec will add signage near the site during the work period.

The Wyman substation provides electricity to customers in the municipalities of Bristol, Shawville and Clarendon in the MRC Pontiac as well as the municipality of Pontiac in the MRC des Collines-de-l’Outaouais. It lowers the voltage from transmission lines from 120 to 25 kilovolts (kV).
