Military training taking place in several Pontiac locations next week

Canadian Special Operations Forces Command is advising the public that there will be military training exercises in several locations throughout the Pontiac next week.

Troops will be in the vicinity of Portage-du-Fort and the Chenaux dam on Monday and Tuesday (May 26 and 27), Davidson on Tuesday and Wednesday (May 27 and 28) as well as Oiseau Rock in Sheenboro on Thursday and Friday (May 29 and 30).

A statement from the military notes that during these periods, residents may notice military personnel, low-flying drones, and increased traffic, as well as hear small arms fire and explosions. Residents may also hear jets and military helicopters as part of the exercises.

“Efforts will be made to minimize disruptions to the public and precautions will be taken to maintain public safety when required,” the statement concludes.
