Mansfield will no longer accept flood debris at the dump
The municipality of Mansfield-et-Pontefract notified their residents, Thursday, that they will now charge a fee to deposit flood debris at the municipal transfer site (dump). It was said in a Facebook post from the municipality that “It is the understanding of the management of the transfer site that the cleaning is completed due to the decrease in traffic and the time elapsed since the disaster, 5 months ago.” However, it is possible to communicate with the municipal office of Mansfield-et-Pontefract to benefit from an exception due to the nature of the situation.
According to the municipality, the prices had to be revised following a price increase issued by the new company McGrimmon Cartage. In addition, it is noted that the costs incurred by municipalities for the disposal of flood litter are only reimbursable to a certain percentage by the ministère de la sécurité publique and that the non-refundable costs must compensate the funds from the municipality.
Since the 2019 Floods, the municipalities of Mansfield and the village of Fort-Coulonge accepted the debris and materials collected from the floods free of charge.
