The Municipality of Mansfield-et-Pontefract has confirmed to CHIP 101.9 that it is exploring the possibility of moving its library, which is currently located at the George Bryson Cultural House. According to the municipality, this possibility has been studied for more than 5 years and council says it wants to work to improve all the services it offers to its citizens, including the library.

To do so and to determine the new location, the municipality stated it wanted to create a new partnership with the École Secondaire Sieur-de-Coulonge (ESSC) in order to move the library there. With the computer systems, space and facilities offered by the Center de services scolaire des Hauts-Bois-de-l’Outaouais (CSSHBO), the municipality expects that the partnership would drastically improve the services they could offer.

The municipality indicated to CHIP 101.9 that the criteria that will be analyzed to make a decision are the improvement of the service, the maintenance of the supply of books, accessibility for people with reduced mobility and the maintenance of jobs related to the library. This question on the location of the library should be part of the council’s discussions over the next few weeks.
