Mansfield athlete wins Canadian Senior Weightlifting Championship

A few hours after his sister, Mansfield-and-Pontefract weightlifter Xavier Lusignan added three gold medals at the 2023 Canadian Senior Weightlifting Championships held Sunday (May 21) in Scarborough, Ontario. Xavier was competing in the 96 kg weight class, where he won three gold medals in the clean and jerk, snatch and total weight.

This is a second consecutive brilliant performance for the young Pontiac athlete, who just returned from the Pan American Junior Championships held last week in Colombia, where he won two gold medals. At one point in the competition, Xavier even surpassed all the athletes in the 102 kg category, which was above the one in which he was competing (96 kg). More details to come.
