Mansfield asks Hydro-Québec to help non-profit organizations

The Municipality of Mansfield-et-Pontefract is asking that Hydro-Québec be able to establish a special status for infrastructures managed by non-profit organizations as well as for leisure services allowing a reduction in the electricity rates imposed on them. For the Municipality of Mansfield, the rates applied, among others, to the Center de loisirs des Draveurs for the electricity costs of the arena or for the Parish Hall of the Knights of Columbus.

For the Municipality of Mansfield, the COVID crisis and the restrictions on public facilities further worsen the financial situation of stakeholders and given that Hydro-Quebec is a government company built for and by the people of Quebec, a temporary and preferential tariff should be put in place for a certain period. The resolution of the Municipality of Mansfield, entitled “Rates of Hydro-Quebec applicable to non-profit organizations and leisure services ” was also adopted by the MRC Pontiac.
