Mansfield and Fort-Coulonge hire a leisure development manager
The municipalities of Fort-Coulonge and Mansfield-et-Pontefract have announced the hiring of a person to develop the sports and recreation sector within their municipalities. Guillaume Lavoie-Harvey assumed these responsibilities.
“For some time now, Fort-Coulonge and Mansfield have been working together to develop services for citizens. Due to the proximity of the two territories, this type of partnership greatly facilitates the development of community projects. In 2020, this type of partnership made it possible to open a public beach, the Plage du Pont Blanc, which now provides free access to water to citizens during the great summer heat waves. With the great success of a joint project such as the public beach, the two municipalities intend to continue the momentum that recreation is taking with the opening of a full-time position ”

Guillaume Lavoie-Harvey’s priority is to organize an analysis of the services offered and to set up a survey of the population.
“In order to guide the development vision, I intend to organize a public survey to consult citizens in relation to their opinions on the situation of leisure services at home. This survey will be used to prepare a public consultation to orient the long-term development vision ”mentions Guillaume Lavoie-Harvey.
“I’ve been thinking for a long time that Mansfield and Fort-Counlonge should share as many serves as possible. We are the same people and we help each other no matter what municipality we belong to. When I saw that the municipalities want to invest in the joint development of recreation, it greatly motivated me to get involved. It’s very motivating to see our boards push forward this type of “development“, admitted Lavoie-Harvey, during his interview with CHIP 101.9.
The arena, a priority
One of the main infrastructures shared by residents of the two communities is the Center de loisir des Draveurs, or the arena. Guillaume Lavoie-Harvey indicated that this file was presented to him as a priority.
“I hope to be able to find the means to develop the same leisure services as in the larger villages, but while preserving the tranquility and the wild nature of our home”
