A Waltham man in his 40s is expected to appear before a judge today (June 2) following an incident that took place Sunday evening.

According to Sûreté du Québec spokesperson Sgt. Marc Tessier, at around 7 p.m. police received a call about a man carrying a firearm in public on rue Nadeau in Waltham. When officers arrived the man entered his house and refused to leave. Police started negotiations and Tessier said that they eventually entered the home and arrested the man later that evening, but didn’t have an exact time.

Tessier said that it would be up to the Crown prosecutor to determine any charges, but didn’t have any details as of early Monday afternoon. He confirmed that police also seized a firearm at the home, but couldn’t provide further information, as the investigation is ongoing.
