Man, 43, arrested in Rapides-des-Joachims for assault with a weapon, threats

A man was arrested in the Municipality of Rapides-des-Joachims January 25 in connection with events that occurred Tuesday, January 23.

According to the Sûreté du Québec, around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, officers from the MRC Pontiac station were called to a home in the isolated municipality. A woman had suffered significant injuries after a 43-year-old man allegedly assaulted the victim and left the scene before the police arrived.

“The victim was transported to hospital for serious but non-life-threatening injuries. She has since been discharged from the hospital,” summarized Catherine Bernard of the SQ.

Investigators analyzed the scene to try to understand the circumstances of the incident. Following analysis, the 43-year-old suspect was arrested on Thursday and is expected to appear at the Campbell’s Bay Courthouse on Friday (January 26), where he could face charges of threats and assault with a weapon.
