Major power outage in several locations in the Outaouais
Several power outages were reported across the Outaouais on Thursday due to wind gusts, causing a major blackout in the region.
Some Pontiac municipalities were affected, notably Sheenboro, L’Isle-aux-Allumettes, Otter Lake, Alleyn-et-Cawood, Campbell’s Bay, Thorne and Clarendon.
According to the Advisor – Community Relations representing Hydro Québec in the Pontiac for Hydro-Québec, Alain Paquette, the situation is almost restored in most of the affected places.
For the sectors still without electricity, Mr. Paquette explained that it is difficult, in a situation of major breakdown, to give a precise time of recovery, given the large number of breakdowns.
Villages in the municipality of La Pêche also lost power for a few hours, notably Lac-des-Loups, East-Aldfield and Sainte-Cécile-de-Masham.
At the time of this writing, 1,443 Pontiac customers were still without electricity.
