Major power outage in Outaouais
Part of the Outaouais was affected by a major blackout Tuesday afternoon, affecting more than 7,000 residences in the region.
According to the Hydro Quebec spokesperson Marie-Annick Gariépy, Hydro-Québec had to cut off electricity to an area in Wakefield to carry out an emergency repair in the transformer. “The transformer was from the seventies, so we had to change one of the pieces inside” she explained.
The municipalities affected mainly by the blackouts were La Pêche and Val-des-Monts, but some customers from the Municipality of Pontiac were also affected. The power was restored around 11:30PM Tuesday night for most of the residents.
