Mag Dog Labine Directors Nominated at the Canadian Screen Awards
The directors of the film Mad Dog Labine, which was filmed in the Pontiac in 2017, Renaud Lessard and Jonathan Beaulieu-Cyr were nominated for the “John Dunning Best First Film Award” as part of the 2020 Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television: Canadian Screen Awards.
This docu-fiction features several young local talents, including the two main actresses, Ève-Marie Martin and Zoé Audet. The winners will be announced during the Canada Screen Awards week on March 23-29, 2020.
In October 2018, the feature film won the Focus Québec/Canada Grand Prize during its premiere at the Festival du nouveau cinéma. It was also presented at numerous Canadian and international film festivals. In 2019, the directors also received the Gilles-Carle Prize, presented by Bell Canada (French), awarded to the best first or second feature, regarding the film as a “fresh and daring cinematic experience, immediately engaging”.
Mad Dog Labine Synopsis:
In Quebec’s wild west, it is moose hunting season. Lindsay and Justine, two marginal teenage girls, steal empty beer cans which they illegally trade for scratchers. Everything changes when they win a prize of $ 10,000.
