Luskville teen wins gold in team cycling event at Quebec Games
This past Saturday, a young athlete from Luskville claimed a gold medal at The Québec Games, which are currently taking place in Laval. Isabel Marie Holt and her teammates took the top spot in the category of Road Cycling (U15 Mixed Relay Team Time Trial). She was part of the team made up of Zoe-Alexa Veilleux (Gatineau), Elliot Perreault (Gatineau), Léa de Broeck (Gatineau) and Julien Bélanger (Chelsea in the MRC des Collines).
CHIP 101.9 spoke with Holt about her big win. She explained that the race is conducted as a team, with the boys completing their 11.9 km route first, followed by the girls on the team.
She said that she had qualified for the Outaouais team due to points she accumulated through previous competition.
When asked if she had any future goals for cycling, Holt said that she’d like to compete in more Quebec Cup competitions, but other than that, didn’t have anything concrete in mind.
The competition took place Saturday and it was the first gold medal won by the Outaouais in this iteration of the games. The 55th Quebec Games started Thursday (July 22) and will end Saturday (July 30). In total, 3,300 athletes are in action during this competition.
