Regional sports and recreation body Loisir Sport Outaouais is launching a new initiative to offer sporting equipment sharing across the region, with locations in the Pontiac as well.

Sylviana Geoffray, a development officer with LSO, explained that Project Circonflex, as the program is known, is meant to offer equipment like cross-country skis and snowshoes to the general public free of charge. The skis and boots will be available in a shed by the office of Carrefour jeunesse-emploi du Pontiac (80 Rue Leslie, Campbell’s Bay), and users will be able to borrow them for the day by leaving a piece of I.D.

Geoffray said that they had also partnered with Le Patro in Mansfield, who offer ski trails in the winter as well as canoes and kayaks in the summer months.

She added that while they have partnerships with various community groups, they were looking to expand to other parts of the region such as Otter Lake to ensure that their coverage of the area was satisfactory.

The full interview with Geoffray (5m30) is available here.
