Litchfield is awaiting funding to repair the Crawford Road bridge and Pilon Road

The municipality of Litchfield’s annual report, published earlier this month, mentions that it is still waiting on confirmation for financial assistance to begin repairs on the Crawford Road bridge and part of Pilon road, both of which were damaged during of the 2019 spring floods, which have remain partially closed for some time.

2020 Budget
In Litchfield’s report, the municipal council presents its financial report which notes a total budget of $1,328,839 for 2020, compared to $1,289,659 in 2019 (difference $39,180).

The council also plans to spend $521,143 on transportation, including road maintenance. In 2019, the municipality reserved $478,440 for this area (difference of $42,703).

The difference in planned spending on culture, which stands at $17,700 in 2020, compared to $29,800 in 2019 (difference of $12,100). The annual fire budget has also been increased by more than $ 23,000 for 2020.

Regarding the relocate project of Chemin Laforest road (https://chipfm.com/Litchfield-le-deplacement-de-l-acces-au-Chemin-Laforest-termine), completed last December, this project received a total of $ 583,041 in grants and transfers for its completion.

In January, the municipality also acquired a new snow truck (Western Star 2020), replacing the old one, which had been in operation since 1998.

An emergency response plan for the entire Litchfield area was established in November, which includes an alert system (Telmatik) in the event of an emergency or natural disaster. Residents who wish to receive alerts and who are not already registered can do so by calling the municipal office.
