L’Isle-aux-Allumettes mayor gives update on water/sewer work

The Municipality of L’Isle-aux-Allumettes has been in the midst of a summer of construction, with a host of upgrades to their water and sewer system in progress. In a press release (available below), the municipality gave a progress report on the work being carried out beneath the village’s main arteries: rues Saint-Jacques, Rochon and Front. There will also be work done on the pumping station located on chemin Pembroke, which will resume in September. Due to Quebec’s construction holidays, the work has been paused, but will resume on August 7, shutting down rue Saint-Jacques at the intersection with chemin Pembroke.

CHIP 101.9 spoke with Mayor Corey Spence about the project and he said that they were hoping to have things wrapped up by mid-fall.

Spence said that the overall cost of the project was around $7 million, with the bill split between federal, provincial and municipal governments.
