A man from L’Isle-aux-Allumettes was among 22 individuals arrested by various divisions of the Ontario Provincial Police in a series of drug raids that were executed on the morning of December 2.

The search warrants were the culmination of a months long investigation by the Upper Ottawa Valley OPP’s community street crime division called Project NIELD, which focused on drug trafficking in the City of Pembroke. The warrants were executed at locations in Pembroke, Renfrew and Arnprior, with police seizing quantities of what they suspect is cocaine, fentanyl, heroin and crystal meth, among other substances. Police also seized cash, conducted energy weapons (commonly known as tasers), pepper spray, rifles, replica pistols and ammunition. They said in a statement that they expect more arrests and charges to stem from these raids.

Michael Gordon Greenfield, 38, of L’Isle-aux-Allumettes was charged with three counts of trafficking cocaine, two counts of trafficking crystal meth and three counts of possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000. He was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on January 25.
