L’EcoFest is going virtual in Isle-aux-Allumettes

1 June 2020 à 12:00 am

The municipality of Isle-aux-Allumettes notes an increase in the participation rate in activities surrounding the Ecofest this spring. The “redesigned” formula allowed the event to take place in 2020, despite the COVID-19 pandemic.

Isle-aux-Allumettes Director General, Alicia Jones.

Some activities are done “virtually” this year and others have been organized respecting the guidelines for social distancing, in particular the annual activity called “adopt a street”. Citizens are also invited to continue their efforts throughout the year to keep their paths clean.

Although the month of May is drawing to a close, there are still some activities that will end in the coming days, including a virtual gardening workshop, given by Jonathan Harkins of the local Three Hills Farm. Information related to Ecofest can be found via their Facebook page de l’événement.

Like many other Pontiac municipalities, Isle-aux-Allumettes had to cancel several events due to COVID-19. Ecofest has therefore played an important role in community life in the region, according to Alicia Jones.

The formula that Ecofest took in 2020 seems to have pleased many citizens, which is why the municipality considers reusing social networks to hold the event in the future.
