Knights of Columbus and CHIP 101.9 team up to broadcast new bingo
The Knights of Columbus Conseil 7221 has announced that it has entered into a partnership with the Pontiac Community Radio (CHIP 101.9) to broadcast their bingo on the radio every Thursday, starting November 19. Previously, the Knights of Columbus bingo took place at the Parish Hall located in Fort-Coulonge. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Knights of Columbus bingo has not taken place for several months, depriving the organization of important revenue, also preventing them from contributing financially to various good causes in the community.
“This is a way that we have found so that we can preserve the good deeds we give back and also offer pleasant and useful entertainment in difficult times” explains Jeannot Bilodeau, Grand Chevalier du Conseil 7221. “It is a way for us to help the Knights of Columbus but also our community” indicated the president of CHIP 101.9, Diane Grenier.
The CHIP 101.9 bingo broadcast will continue every Monday and the first Tuesday of the month. Starting Thursday, November 19, for those who want, the Knights of Columbus bingo will be every Thursday night. The bingo will be hosted by Luc Sicard, a bingo regular. “Luc was the one we wanted to host because he knows our players and is appreciated by everyone,” said CHIP 101.9 director François Carrier.
Knights of Columbus Bingo will give out $ 1,200 in prizes to start. The game will consist of a prize of $ 1,000 for a full card and $ 200 for a consolation prize. The cards will be sold at a cost of $ 6 and available at the same points of sale as the “Radio Bingo” cards from CHIP 101.9. According to the director of CHIP 101.9, the partnership between the two organizations also allows the Knights of Columbus to benefit from expertise in setting up radio bingo. “We have a distribution network, a delivery service and expertise, among others with Nathalie Denault from the radio, which has been developed for many years. We will put everything at the disposal of the Knights of Columbus, “said the general manager of CHIP 101.9, François Carrier, who made sure to see to the development of this new bingo in the coming weeks.
A risk for CHIP 101.9?
For CHIP 101.9, the bet may seem risky, since the organization already has a bingo that is used to invest in the production of local information on a daily basis, an essential role for a region like the Pontiac believes the president of CHIP 101.9, Diane Grenier. Despite everything Diane Grenier believes that what matters is that the community can be the winners of this partnership.
“Knights of Columbus bingo helps organizations and causes of all kinds: scholarships for students, donations for our food bank, contributions for the most disadvantaged, in short many people and organizations who are in great need of This money. This is the main reason that motivates us to contribute, despite the risks of seeing the number of players decrease in our own bingo, ”said Diane Grenier.
The president of CHIP 101.9 also pointed out that this risk is possible due to the sustained growth of CHIP 101.9 in recent years. “We have been fortunate to have such a large number of listeners, clients, volunteers and staff who have allowed us to achieve excellent results. It is our growth in recent years that allows us to contribute to the community “explains Diane Grenier.
