Jane Tollers’ details about FQM Forum des communautés forestières
After participating in the 2020 Forum des communautés forestières, organized by the Fédération québécoise des municipalités (FQM), the Warden of the Pontiac MRC, Jane Toller, said she was satisfied to see that the Pontiac was part of the discussion concerning the revival of the forest industry in the Outaouais.
Jane Toller was accompanied by the mayor of Campbell’s Bay, Maurice Beauregard, the mayor of Mansfield, Gilles Dionne, as well as the Director General of Mansfield, Eric Rochon.
During Wednesday’s Mayors meeting, the Warden said that an important announcement on forestry would be made in March by the ministre des Forêts, de la Faune et des Parcs du Québec, Pierre Dufour.
In Fall 2019, Jane Toller said that the MRC would have an “important” role to play in the restructuration of the forest industry in Outaouais, especially after the announcement of the closure of the Fortress plant in Thurso, which had an important impact on the Outaouais including the Pontiac, according to the Warden.
