Jane Toller comments on the MRC Pontiac’s strategic plan 2030
The new strategic plan of the MRC Pontiac, made public last week, is an opportunity to project into the future of the region until 2030. The government of Quebec asks that the regional councils adopt a vision for the next 10 years, which gives an idea of the current strengths and weaknesses of the territory.
The Warden of the MRC Pontiac insisted on the fact that it is the citizens of the region who gave themselves a vision, during the various consultation sessions that took place last fall. The latter commented on this strategic plan and specifies that this plan was voted unanimously by the council of mayors.
“We need to find strategies for some challenges, such as an aging population, loss of service and trying to increase the average income of our households. We believe we have a vision to achieve this with this plan. ”
– Jane Toller
Despite these challenges, Jane Toller believes that the MRC Pontiac has stood out since the beginning of her mandate. She also notes that compared to 2014, the MRC Pontiac has climbed a few positions in the Rankings of MRCs, according to the economic vitality index of the Institut de la statistique du Québec.
“I am very optimistic about the future of the MRC Pontiac. We are receiving more investment to help revitalize our villages, we have received around 6 million for 5 years, we are in the right direction ”
