The Cégep Héritage Foundation announced that Ivan Hale, father of three Cégep Heritage College graduates and resident of Alcove, Outaouais, was elected President of the Cégep Foundation at its meeting on December 17th.

Mr. Hale was appointed a member of the Order of Canada in 1982 for his leadership in launching a national educational exchange program called Education Canada. Since that time, he has acquired over 30 years of experience in Foundation governance, development, strategic planning, operations and management. More recently, you may recognize Mr. Hale for his participation on the Table agroalimentaire de l’Outaouais, the CEDEC (Community Economic Development and Employability Corporation) or his work with the agricultural sector. He has worked as Secretary General of the International Federation on Ageing. Following that, he served as Executive Director of the Quebec Farmers’ Association for close to a decade.

“Special thanks goes out to those who walked before us: community pioneers whose advocacy resulted in the creation of Heritage College in 1988. Credit also goes to past Foundation board members, donors and volunteers. We are especially grateful to Chris Schaler, former Chair, for his devotion and leadership over the last 2 years.”

“During these unprecedented times where we are all facing huge challenges brought about by the world-wide pandemic, it is essential that we assist students on their path to launching new careers. In order for them to succeed, we must do all we can to offer a supportive and caring environment”, said Mr. Hale.

Ivan is excited to assume the reins of this young community-minded Foundation and to work closely with the College administration. He is delighted to take on this new responsibility working alongside passionate and dedicated Foundation Directors: Linton Garner (Vice-Chair), Shannon Townsend (Treasurer), Marc Fricker (Secretary), Chris Schaler (Past-Chair), David Jacques and Gordon McIvor. Alain Guy, Chair of the Heritage College Board of Governors and Gordon McIvor, Director General of the College, join their voices to those of the Foundation Members to congratulate Mr. Hale for his appointment.
